– Ever since a little girl I’ve known I’ve wanted to work in the health field. I started working with children when teaching gymnastics to ages 4-18 for 4 years. I realized my passion in those moments ( include how teaching gymnastics relates to occupational therapy using similar skills to teach as to rehabilitate.) I also volunteered with a recreational cheer leading team to help instruct the team through the season. Before beginning college my vision was blurry. I knew I was a hands on person, wanted to work in the health field, and knew with children and to do little amount of school. My cousin is a nurse and one day at the gym we ran into her friend that was an occupational therapist. When she introduced me to her she said ” now this is someone who actually loves her job”. So i briefly asked my cousin afterwards.. What is an occupational therapist? I had no idea what occupational therapy was. I did a quick google search and became interested in it. That same year we found out my autistic brother needed occupational therapy. out of curiosity i went with him to one of his sessions to watch. I immediately became obsessed with the

career. From one second to the next I knew and did not doubt my future career..
– OT relates to my long term goals because it is my future. I want to help people in need for the rest of my life.
